Beef Meat Pie

This recipe is loved by everyone in my family. It’s quick and easy to make. If you have a lunch box that can keep food warm. This can be a good kid’s lunch option.

My Version

This recipe makes 2 large pie. They can be cut to 12 small squares for 2-3 people.

Dough

1350gAll-purpose flour
2210mlWater
31 pinchSalt
41 tbspOil
  • Mix the above ingredients into a soft dough.
  • Cover the surface with some oil and let it rest for 20 minutes.

Filling

1300gGround beef
21/4 cupStock
31/2 tspFive spices
41/2 tbspFinely chopped ginger
51 tbspTianmian sauce
61/2 tspSalt
71/2 tspMSG (optional)
85Chopped green onion
91 tbspSesame oil
  • Mix 1-7 well until it becomes sticky. Using hand is easier for this step.
  • Mix 8 and 9, then place it on top of the meat. Don’t mix it until making the pie.

Shape

  • Put some flour on the countertop.
  • Roll out the dough to a big rectangle shape about 3-4 mm thick.
  • Roll it from one side all the way to the other side, then close the edges.
  • Press it down first, then use a rolling pin to roll it out gently to a rectangle shape.

Cook

  • Preheat a large non-stick pan.
  • Add 1 tbsp oil, put the dough in and leave the top on.
  • Cook the first side in the medium-low heat for 6-8 minutes. Then turn it over and cook the other side for 2-3 minutes.
  • Cut it to six squares and serve.
